Retinol & Vitamin A – “A Natural Organic” Alternative in Heaven Skincare

You have our attention Retinol! You have our attention UVA!  Heaven by Deborah Mitchell Skincare Range – we have some amazing news! Read on….

Who watched the BBC’s “The Truth about Looking Good?”  Quite remarkable outcomes and some already known facts about sun damage & its contribution towards accelerated ageing.  Sun exposure, according to Professor Chris Griffiths at Salford Royal Hospital, is the key cause of wrinkles.  UVA being the main one ….. even penetrating glass!  Sun exposure is responsible for most clinical features we can see in sun ageing.  In order of 75%!

So we all sort of knew this anyway – right?  Maybe not such a high percentage I must admit.

Let’s look how we can prevent ageing and help already damaged skin.  The take home message of this programme was to protect your skin from UVA (see Blog on L- Carnosine) and use Vitamin A Retinol as part of your anti ageing regime and to treat already damaged skin.

Looking at Vitamin A first – Retinol – what is it and where can we find it? Then I’m going to list the Heaven Skincare by Deborah Mitchell Products that have Organic Vitamin A Beta-Carotene added (along with Light filtering protection too in some)

This is exactly what my friends have been asking for since watching the programme.  I was very smug in saying

” You are ahead of the game you are using this anyway with Heaven Skincare by Deborah Mitchell – why do you think you look so amazing & nowhere near your age!”

Retinol

Retinol is in the Vitamin A family – Retinol, retinal, and
four carotenoids including beta carotene .

Vitamin A is needed for eye sight, maintenance of the skin & human development.  It is converted in the body to retinal & retinoid acid through which it acts.  Dietary sources include fish, dairy products & meat – Liver, orange, ripe yellow fruits, leafy vegetables, carrots, pumpkin, squash, spinach, fish, soy milk, milk.

Retinol was discovered in 1909, isolated in 1931, and first made in 1947.

Chemical Chain
Vitamin A Chemical Chain

Dermatologists consider retinol the holy grail of non invasive wrinkle-prevention. When applied topically, this vitamin A derivative stimulates collagen production and cell turnover, which reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens out complexion, and unclogs pores. It’s effective in reversing sun damage, fighting acne, reducing wrinkles, and shrinking pores. It’s just as effective for men as it is for women, even though, like most skincare products, it’s mostly marketed to women.

Natural Alternatives to Retinol

Retinoids are harvested from animals or are synthetic copies of something our bodies can convert ourselves. There can be some side effects, which sound worse than the wrinkles we’re trying to fight in the first place. And the potential for long-term skin damage could have us constantly searching for more remedies. So time to search for organic alternatives to retinol instead!

Carotenoids are an excellent organic alternative that our bodies naturally convert to usable retinoids. They occur naturally in a number of soothing, gentle ingredients that won’t cause more problems for your skin later on.

Retinoids are either synthetically prepared or are found in animal sources such as meat, poultry, fish and dairy. This can make them more irritating. Carotenoids, like beta-carotene, are a safer alternative sourced from plants. Carotenoids are naturally converted to retinoids in our own skin, making them much more gentle than synthetic retinoids or retinoids that have been metabolized to retinol by its animal source.

In simple terms, there are three options for vitamin A in skincare. You can get retinoids harvested from animals that have already metabolized the vitamin, you can use synthetic copies of converted retinoids, or you can opt for gentle carotenoids that your body can easily convert itself into usable retinoids. Offering similar results, without the nasty side effects, and are a much better way to vitamin A!

Heaven Skincare Silver Bee Venom Mask

ABEETOXIN® is the natural alternative to botox and has healing properties making it great for those with blemished skin, rosacea, eczema, dry and mature skin. Contains the venom of the worker bee.

How do you use it?

Heaven Skincare Bee Venom Mask – Apply after your cleansing routine morning and evening. Can also be applied on top of your moisturiser or combined with a serum. Leave on for 10 minutes and wash off with warm water or leave on overnight/all day for accelerated results. We recommend using twice a day on top of Age Defiance Prism Cream for cumulative maximal effects.

How does it work?

Once applied the Heaven Skincare Bee Venom Abeetoxin in the cream fools your skin in to thinking its been stung.  Your body will then go in to “helper” mode to assist where it thinks harm has been done – It sends an army of mediators to fight the Battle! Therefore the bee venom itself increases blood circulation, gently plumping out and firming the skin, filling and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. The venom causes a rush of blood to the area and stimulates the production of natural collagen and elastin. Its really making you body work for itself – causing a reaction to the site of injury – or where it thinks injury has occured.

Will I be allergic?

If you have a known allergy to bee stings then this product is definitely not for you.  A patch test is always advisable if you do not know of any allergies.  Samples can be requested by email to Skincare Organics at skincareorganics@gmail.com

Abstract

Facial wrinkles are an undesirable outcome caused by extrinsic photodamage and intrinsic aging processes. Currently, no effective strategies are known to prevent facial wrinkles.

We assessed the beneficial effects of bee-venom serum on the clinical signs of aging skin. Our results show that bee-venom serum treatment clinically improved facial wrinkles by decreasing total wrinkle area, total wrinkle count, and average wrinkle depth. Therefore, bee-venom serum may be effective for the improvement of skin wrinkles.

Bee venom plays an important role in the improvement of skin wrinkles, and it is used in the cosmetics industry as an antiwrinkle agent. Bee-venom serum provided greater efficacy in terms of total wrinkle area, total wrinkle count, and average wrinkle depth in subjects with photodamaged skin. Long-term treatment with bee venom-containing cosmetics could be safe, because the irritation potential of bee venom is negligible.

Heaven Skincare Prism Age Defiance

Facialist to the stars Heaven Skincare Deborah Mitchell, has unveiled a next-generation ‘Prism’ technology which contains a secret natural ingredient set to revolutionise sun protection, anti ageing and defence. Available from Skincare Organics UK.

“Our newly discovered Prism technology harnesses the power of our skin’s own natural peptides, specifically L-Carnosine in Prism Age Defiance and not only defends against light damage, but actually produces collagen to protect it when light hits,” said Deborah Mitchell.

“Skin cells are subject to ultra-violet (UV) light, infrared (IR) light, visible light (VIS), and free radicals on a daily basis through sun, stress, pollution, as well as from mobile phones, tablets and computers. All of these cause ageing, wrinkles, and DNA damage, and so to have identified an ingredient that actively supports, protects and repairs against this is truly ground-breaking.”

Heaven’s renowned Age Defiance Cream has been reformulated to include the innovative new Prism technology, Heaven Skincare Prism Age Defiance boosting the skin’s own natural defence system, increasing and then protecting collagen, and providing full anti-oxidant benefits.

Deborah Mitchell continues: “Carnosine appears in the skin naturally and has long been recognised as the most efficient anti-glycation compound, working to safeguard it. Recent research into photo-protection showed that L-Carnosine in particular is hugely efficient in protecting and reversing the effects of this light and it’s this that we’ve incorporated into our exciting new Prism technology – in Heaven Skincare Prism Age Defiance Cream” she added.

The peptide supplement used is biomimetic active, so 100% pure and using no solvent, which actually encourages the skin to produce collagen.

“Other than the addition of this exciting new technology, the Heaven Age Defiance Cream still maintains all of its original benefits” added Deborah Mitchell, “It’s non-greasy, balances vitamins and natural hyaluronic acid for super anti-aging benefits , offers a 14 day repair, and actually helps reduce scarring and plumps our new lines and wrinkles.”

“It also firms and hydrates the skin, works as filler all-over, makes skin look more youthful, and acts as a perfect base for make-up. Best of all, because it contains no essential oils, it’s perfect for even sensitive skin” she concluded.
